Several years ago, Zach Brown developed what's become his signature set of characters: The Do Nots®, a pastry-faced bunch of kids with doughnut noses, candy-colored hair and yummy-sounding names like "Eclair," "Dunkin," and "Devil Dog."

But under all the sprinkles and icing-covered schnozzes, Zach expresses some serious ideas using The Do Nots® charcters as a springboard. Do Not judge people by the wheels they drive caption a trio of youngsters on a skateboard, rollerblades, and in a wheelchair. Other messages such as, Do Not forget to do your homework and Do Not forget to clean your room, are part of the values expressed by The Do Nots®.

"The Do Nots® are sensitive, non-violent characters," says Zach of his creations. "You won't find pumped-up body builders ripping people's heads off."

Zachary Brown is a fifteen-year old, self-taught artist and illustrator who has been retained as a Kidsday Staff Artist in the New York regional newspaper, Newsday.
